DOCK JUMPING

Run. Jump. Swim. Repeat!

Dock Jumping will take place at the Wilcox Pool for Dogs That Just Wanna Have Fun!

Please see the FAQ for more info.

Please read the Titan Dog Games General Event Rules, as well as the following Dock Jumping specific rules:

Dock Jumping will take place on Saturday, from 9am - 11am. There will be a running order determined prior to event start, but it is flexible.

Your dog will get 2 Splashes (or rounds). Each Splash consists of 2 back-to-back jumps. According to the running order, your dog will do his/her first 2 jumps back to back, then take a break while the rest of the dogs jump; then do their final 2 jumps.

The best score out of the 4 jumps will be recorded.

In the case of a tie, the 2nd best jump score is taken into consideration. If both scores are tied, we will go to the 3rd best, and then 4th best score.

If you have 2 dogs, we will spread them out so that you have time to switch your dogs out. Also for people with 2 dogs, we will put them in alphabetical order.

The Dock Jumping portion of this event is sanctioned by ASCA, and FYI, your dog DOES NOT need to be an Austrailian Shepherd to be registered with ASCA to earn Dock Jumping titles! Please see the FAQ on the ASCA site for more info. At this time there are no ASCA score reporting fees.

There will be a designated Tenting Area at the event. NOTE: WE DO NOT PROVIDE TOYS. You are encouraged to bring a kennel, doggy waste bags, food, treats, water, bowls, towels, blankets, toys, an emergency medical kit and/or anything else necessary for your dog's comfort and care while at the event. You are welcome to bring chairs, coolers, non-alcoholic beverages, food and anything else necessary for your family's comfort and care while at the event. Pop-up tents are not necessary as we will have several set up on site, and you may kennel under them. You may also work out of your vehicle.

Once a dog/handler team is done with their jumps, they can drive over to Foundation First K9 for Detection. If you are not participating in the 40-Yard Dog Dash, you may leave, but we encourage everyone to watch the 40-Yard Dog Dash as it is super fun, and really any dog can do it!

Dock Jumping Rules by Ultimate Air Dogs:

The Event Judge always has the final say. Any questions should be directed to Milt Wilcox.

Dogs showing dangerous behaviors will be disqualified for the safety of all.

Handler is required to maintain control of dog, on leash, at all times unless directed otherwise. Failure to control your dog could result in disqualification.

Female dogs in heat are banned from the event premises at all times.

Dogs must be AT LEAST 6 months old to participate.

Dogs that have never been off the dock but want to participate, must sign up for the Friday Dock Jumping clinic.

Dogs must be considered an above average swimmer. This is the dog that has no fear in the water, and will swim out for his/her toy with no extra splashing or flailing about. This means that your dog can get in a pool, lake, pond or what have you, and swim around with no erratic splashing. The dog’s confidence should be at the highest level. The reason why we won’t let an immature dog participate is important for you to understand… if your dog gets “water freaked” in the slightest bit, not only could it ruin your dog from ever swimming again, but the likelihood of your dog losing his trust in you completely is great. That’s the last thing you want. We will only accept dogs that are above average swimmers.

Only ONE dog may be off lead at a time*. This is the dog who’s turn it is on the dock. All other dogs must remain either on lead or kenneled at all times. It is your responsibility to watch that the dog on the dock is back on lead before unleashing your dog. *The exception to the one dog off lead at a time rule is when you have one handler/owner that owns 2 dogs, and the owner wants to use one of their dogs to help urge the other to jump. This is allowed and encouraged, as long as the owner has control of his dogs, no other dogs are off leash, and there are enough people willing to help out when the dogs are coming out of the pool.

No harsh corrections and/or collar jerks.

No pushing or pulling the dog up the stairs or into the pool. (The dog MUST go in on its own accord for the jump to be scored.) DO NOT EVER PUSH YOUR DOG OFF THE DOCK or you may be asked to leave the event!

"Training collars" are not allowed on the dock. This includes but is not limited to prong collars, pinch/choke collars, etc. Training collars can be worn up to the bottom stairs of the dock. Electronic “dummy” collars, or e-collars in the “off” position are permitted on the dock, BUT the remote control must be left on the secretary’s desk. Nothing may be hanging off of collars. Failure to comply with this rule may result in disqualification.

There may be 2 handlers on the dock - one to hold the dog while the other "handles" the dog, as long as we have an electronically signed liability waiver for each person. In unique service dog situations with pre-approval from the Event Judge, we may allow 3 people on the dock. We will also allow anyone who can’t get on the dock because of a disability, to throw from the ground on the side of the pool. At TDG, it's really about the dog having fun!

Our Dock Jumping concept is revolved around the dog, not the team. Therefor, each dog can only be listed in the running order once – there is no exception. However, handlers can be switched at any time. So if you have 2 handlers, you can take turns being the person who throws for each of the 2 jumps. The dog will retain the highest score. Just make sure that there is a liability waiver on file with us for each handler!

Respect the personal space (and social distance) of others. When in line, it is your responsibility to be aware of the dog and human in front of you and behind you, keeping your dog out of reach of all others. Maintain a 6ft distance. When walking with your dog, be aware of all other dogs and humans around you. When in the Staging or tenting areas, please do not touch the property of others without permission. This includes but is not limited to dogs, kennels and all other belongings.

There is No Poop Fairy… Pick up all of your waste. We retain the right to ask anyone who has not picked up their dog's waste, to leave the event. You are responsible for bringing bags to pick up after your dog(s). Bags are sometimes available at the Registration desk, if you forgot yours. (Hand sanitizer is usually available.) This also includes any garbage you or your family may accumulate while at the event, ie. Beverage bottles, paper products, etc.
